Hi, How important is COI % ? What is too high ? And also, would you walk away if too high with all other health tests good? Thank you
Not an easy question to answer. If you are a novice, then I would aim for as low COI as possible. Check the average COI for your breed and stick below that. A higher COI is not necessarily a bad thing, if it is handled very carefully. Line breeding can produce more consistant offspring, but there is a risk of duplicating 'faults' as well. In order to line breed safely, you would need a good understanding of all of the dogs behing the breeding in terms of their health testing, temperment, confirmation etc etc.
6.5% is the average for the breed. I would be looking for that, or thereabouts. Was it you who asked on another thread about COI? I just answered a question about it there.
