Hi everyone, I’m new to the world of forums so please forgive me if I’m doing this incorrectly.
We have a 4 month old female lab pup who is the sweetest thing ever. She was pretty unwell when we initially brought her home which turned out to be giardia and campylobacter. This was successfully treated by our vet and we had a happy healthy pup who picked up house training really well.
These last few weeks though she has started voiding her bladder in her sleep and all her house training seems to have gone out the window with lots of accidents occurring. We went back to the vets To check for a uti and to check if there were any stomach issues causing her pain around her bladder but all tests came back completely normal. The vet seems to be out of things to test for now... has anyone experienced anything similar with their puppies? I’d be massively grateful for any advice or clues.

Welcome! I have never heard of this. Do you mean that the puppy is actually asleep when it is happening??

    Hi jbg,

Yes, she doesn’t wake up afterwards either.

I use to do this when I was 4 or 5 but I got over it. Your pup will probably too.

    Hi @AmyPond

I would try waking the dog up, say, every two hours (before she urinates) and taking her outside and giving her many treats when she urinates at a certain spot in the garden.

We had a similar problem with our last Lab.She didn't start this until after she was spayed and continued for quite some time.I don't remember all the details, but our vet said sometimes they have a "fake bladder"...actually a weak area in the urethra that holds urine and leaks out. She was very prone to UTI"s. She couldn't control this so I never scolded her. It only happened while she was asleep. I actually cut a garbage bag and put it under a blanket on the couch ( I removed it if someone visited LOL!) and bought her a bed with a water proof liner so I could wash the outer covers. She was the sweeyest baby, but had a problem. Maybe get another vet opinion.
