Need some advice on this one. A puppy I’m looking to adopt has had dry skin around her eyes for 2 months. She is 12 weeks old and the owner says it doesn’t bother her. From what I’ve read, it could be a majority of things. If you’ve encountered this, lend me some advice. As much as I want to adopt her, I don’t want to be bombarded by vet bills to treat something right after I get her. Thank you so much in advance!

Has the owner got a vets opinion, without that it’s a gamble. Also no insurance will cover her for eye related issues as it’s pre existing. Also 12 weeks is old to get a puppy so have other people have passed her by :( Good luck with you decision.

If you want a definitive diagnosis on the eye condition, you could ask her current carer to take her to a vet to have it checked - and to give permission for you to speak with the vet on the phone afterwards, so the vet can let you know what was found. You might need to pay for the vet appointment but that sounds better than making the wrong decision with the puppy.
