How old was Biscuit? My Pearl has just been spayed...she's nearly 8mths. Just wondering as if they're older maybe easier? Or not:)

My Ruby had her spay surgery 4 days ago. She is her normal, active, silly self. It’s hard to keep her calm. She is not bothering her incision and we are not bathing her or allowing her to swim or splash. We are not letting her “play” with our other dogs but she can be with them under supervision, no rough-housing. Cannot keep her from jumping. She seems to be recovering fine so far. We are watching her incision to be sure it stays closed, not red or swollen. Acepromezine is not particularly helpful as 1/2 pill zonks her out (too much) and it only lasts a couple of hours anyway. We go back to the vet for a vaccine in 2 more days so we will get her opinion on the healing then. Ruby is 7 months old today. I think she’s doing okay with normal but not overwhelming restrictions.

My little girl just got home from her spay today. She’s 7 months old. I too am worried about her jumping. About 3 hours after getting home she leaped right up on to the couch. I guess there’s not much I can do to prevent that. As of right now she’s not wearing the cone of shame but it will have to be put on when we cannot monitor her. I hate having to do that to her but I know it’s for the best.

It is important that she doesn't jump so you will need to put her in a pen/crate if you cannot prevent this.
Rather than the dreaded cone of shame, I use a Medical Pet Vest (like a doggy babygrow). Much more comfortable for the dogs, and saves cone of shame vs leg incidents :)
