I also worry about what inky eats. Our last Lab had a bowel obstruction and a resection after swallowing a stone when playing in the garden. A few years later he had a perforated bowel from a kebab stick that we guessed he'd picked up on the beach.

Update on the Xbox joystick: Murphy dug it up out of one of his many holes in the yard and proudly presented it to me. I just had to laugh. Oh labs.

No more searching through poo. Although now I’m just impressed with his ability to carefully remove every tag off the bottom of every rug in the house without me noticing. o_O

:cwl: Brilliant! If only Tuppence's prosecco cork would turn up like that.

Sorry for digging up an old post but I just made an account on this forum because I got home from work today and my 8 week old Lab x Kelpie puppy had eaten both my xbox controller sticks.
I am really worried but he still smashed down his dinner and doesn’t seem lethargic.

Should I take him to the vet or wait and see what turns up?
First time fur dad so Im freaking out a bit right now.

I think it depends how much of them he has eaten. I'm not totally sure what they are(!). I would definitely phone the vet and describe what he has eaten and how much. Sometimes they can give the dog something to make them vomit it back up again but it depends on how much time has passed as to whether that is possible.

Meanwhile, take this as an indication that your management is lacking. Puppies should not be left able to access anything they are not supposed to. They should be crated, or in a pen or dog run - somewhere they can't ingest what they're not supposed to.
