We are proud owners of another Black Labrador retriever.
Logan is now 20wks old and joins the clan of 3 other dogs.
Black Lab Holly who is 10 1/2yrs old now.
Jasper n Raisin who are siblings and they are 12yrs old.
Jasper n Raisin are black lab cross rottie we took them in as 3wk old pups as their mother ran dry so it bottle feed every 2 hrs etc and so on.
It was like having a baby in the house again but this time it where pups..
They have matured and very health for their age...
Our changed our life for the dogs and that means 4 or 5 beach holidays a year to Scotland where they can run play swim to their hearts content.

    Now have Logan.
Now Logan is a totally different puppy from our when our others where infact at the other end of the scale..

We are Logans 2nd owner from 10wks old.
We collected Logan from his previous owner as their excuse was that her son as a dog allergy..
But reading between the lines and a lengthy conversation with her it seems that from the age of 8wks to 10wks logan was either in the kitchen or another room for between 8/10hrs aday by himself..
    Now that isnt right..
So we took it upon ourselves to take him..
I had a pre arranged vet appointment the next day just incase he came home with us..

He weighed only 4.5kg and to us that was small by our experience but he is a different shape to holly.
Where as holly is classed as a show dog breed n shape Logan is classed as a working dog..

Logan had his vacs etc and during staying in period we did obedience training in the garden.
    Sit.
    Walk.
    Stay.
    Leave.
    Recall.
    Heel.

Holly the Black Lab after two days decuded to mother him somewhat and that became a challenge as Logan would get a tad rough in his ay over the weeks and even though Holly would tell him off he would carry on.
Logan is told to.leave holly if he starts with her and he just walks away instantly.

When it came to actual walkies it was almost 2wks before he would have enough courage to walk down the drive to the street.
My mum lives next door so for a daily morning visit we had to carry him.

We understand that Logan as separation issues and follows me everywhere.
If i go out for a couple.of hrs he is ok with the elderly clan as they all eat a treat each and not a whisper from all 4..

Teaching Logan to walk as been a total nightmare and very stressful for both parties..
He will not walk with our other 3 dogs to the park as he is so unpredictable as just suddenly whips around and tries to nip their faces.
Which we now believe is wanting to play..
If i meet up with a dog walking group in the paek each lunch time he is a different dog.
Logans walks, plays, greets them all and then walks along and happily will walk home...
Logan as started to settled a bit more with our other 3 and if he tries to whip around etc we just say leave and he just carries on walking..
    He is learning....
He will stop at street corners without prompt from a treat and does the same at road crossings..

When Logan is on his own with me in the park he will recall and sit instantly for a treat..
    So no problem them there.
Also.Logan likes to be ahead of the other 3 dogs on a walk hates being behind them as he may think he is being left behind.

We have finally got Logan into a 1hr a week puppy class for 5wks so hopefully that helps...

One thing that we said we would never do is put him on an halti...
But it had to be done and after 3 little walks he is getting used to it.

We are sure that when we get over all these issues Logan will be a wonderful boy.

Logan is family from the very first second he qas passed into our arms and always will be..

We will never give up on him no matter what....

My dog sounds like he had a similar start in life to yours. Have you tried a harness rather than the Halti? Worked a treat with my boy. I still get it out sometimes if we're going somewhere very exciting where he might forget his training ( like our recent weekend in Edinburgh, which was a big change for us country bumpkins)

TheTruelove harness with front clip is cheap on eBay and worked well but we changed to a Perfect Fit as he hates having things put on over his head.

Hi yes we have an harness but still pulls like a bull...
I will look into those harnesses..
He just does not like the halti and he makes it known..
On our way around the park i unclipped the lead from the halti and clipped the harness.
Seemed to help in a way..

Like i have said i hope that these puppy classes by the dogs trust help..

Hi and welcome from me and my 18 month old choc lab Isla.

You sound like you have a very happy and busy life! What a lovely group. I'm sure Logan will settle and soon learn from your other dogs
