Hi guys, I need your help. Ive got a puppy labrador for my 28 y old disabled son. Its Fox Red Labrador its very clever dog well trained by my son. However his 7 months old puppy started playing rough and biting aggressively. Its usually starts in the evenings. It even happens after walk. During the day its lovely dog unfortunately in the evening is bad. Im running out of ideas what to do. My son is a wheelchair user and he is in a danger. We all love this dog so please dont tell me we should get rid of him. Please help.
Hello, this is very normal lab behaviour for his age. Absolutely no reason to rehome him, obviously things are tricky due to your sons mobility but this will be a phase that your dog with guidance will grow out of. I found this age the hardest. A big strong dog with puppy behaviour. I am no expert but it sounds like your dog is wanting to play. Could you do some training at that point ? I did lots of mini sessions then. Their brain needs wearing out too. Also you could try distraction, I frozen kong always give a bit of a break. Are you going to any obedience classes ? They saved my sanity with Meg..they made me realise I was not alone and gave me a focus for training. If you read the old threads on here there are many similar and lots of good ideas shared how to get through this tricky adolescent stage
