Hi all, Having one of those days today. Ted is almost 6 months, he's a huge 25kg Golden retriever. On the whole he is pretty laid back and not at all high energy. He's my second golden as my 10y old Paddy passed away 2 years ago. Having another pup has been a shock to the system. Today so far he has repeatedly jumped up onto the kitchen table, he has repeatedly jumped and nipped me on both walks (luckily managed to tether him to fence post until calm), he's eaten the neighbours dogs poo as I didn't spot it quick enough, (neighbour insists it's not her dog & doesn't clean it up). I have vague memories of all this with my previous dog, it's funny how you forget. Just gonna keep calm and carry on...just needed to vent. On the plus side he sleeps all night, doesn't destroy anything, good off lead and loose lead walking is going well (apart from the jumping & biting random episodes) Anyone else having one of those days????
*runs in waving arms and knocking over furniture* Meeeee! We have a whippet puppy the same age, and he's attempting ALL of the same things at the moment. Jumping up at the worktops every morning to check how much he's grown overnight is an especially important part of his daily routine.
Haha, hi there, yes isn't it funny how we forget! We got Isla after we lost our previous beloved 13 year old lab. What a shock we had,lol. But seriously it does get so much better, Isla is nearly two and nearly all the challenging behaviors are being sorted. Keep calm and carry on really works.
THANK YOU FOR THIS POST!! It's sooo good to read that we're not alone. Cooper is 6 months (lab) and we're clearly hitting the adolescent challenging phase haha! He's an absolute poppet, we love him so much, but oh boy is he a pain at times!! So we're having humping big style at the moment. Can't sit on the floor without being violated He's crazy difficult pulling on the lead but we're working so so hard with this. He's probably the only fussy lab, terrified of the car and his lead/harness! On the flip side, he's amazing off lead ( he's been allowed off lead since he first went out, obviously where safe!), is so so loving and adores hugs and kisses on his nose haha!!
Ted is a morning humper! Drags his bedding out and gets carried away until I remove it. Just had more of the jumping and nipping. Off leash this time and he has bruised my arm through 4 layers of clothing!!! Can't wait for that behaviour to stop.

He's nine months old and 32kg - wrestling his bedding off him in the morning is quite a challenge! The good news is that the nipping and biting for attention stopped a couple of months ago. It does get easier.
