Hi and Hello, I am new to this so please have patience with me. I have rescued a Lab/Boxer mix that has been abused and she has been in and out of the shelter. She is a 3 1/2 year old and spayed, she jumps and lunges on a leash and is very destructive. She has chew up a crate and does not like to be confined at all, but I work 2nd shift and have 5 cats( which the shelter said she is good with) so I have to put her in my garage. Any wise words of wisdom as to how to retrain her?

Hello and welcome, how fabulous you have given a rescue dog a loving home. I think with dogs that have an unknown history you are best investing in some specialist behaviour support, at least to start you off on the right track. They have complex issues that need time and assessment to resolve and that’s not easily without expert help. Does the shelter offer ongoing support or maybe they could recommend someone. I’m not sure what you mean by working a second shift ? How long is she left for ? That might be why she is chewing/destructive and not liking being confined ?
