    Hey everyone,

cI went and picked up a beautiful 2 month old chocolate lab called roxie, she's an absolute delight and I have truly fell in love with her. It's currently her first night in her new home and she's loving it while being slightly apprehensive about certain things. I'v grown up with dogs all my life so I'm generally used to them sleeping in bed with me (a lot don't agree with this but I don't want to do crate related stuff.

    So a couple of questions,
    1. It's currently 4am, sleeps looking elusive due to having an active little pup on my hands. She's having brief naps but waking up fairly often to do her business & to cry because she's currently toothing and likes chewing my fingers. How long will this generally last? I'm expecting a few months of not great sleep at least.

    2. Excercise, she still hasn't had her jabs but I'm eager to get her out and about to firstly tire her out and secondly so she can experience the world, any good ways to work her out that don't involve risky activities?
    3. Teaching her obedience and tricks? When should I start training her, I do't want to confuse her too much in her new home but training needs to happen sooner rather than later.

Thanks for advice guys, can provide any pictures on request! Took a while to write this up as Roxie has a habit of walking all over my laptop when I'm using it lol.

    Hi William,

Firstly we would love to see pictures of your girl Roxie!

In about a week when she is settled in you would expect her to go a couple of hours through the night. You would be setting alarms to take her out before she wakes up and will be able to extend the time gradually.

If you have a garden you will be able to let her out and walk/play in it. You should be socialising her and taking her out but you will need to carry her until she is able to go on the ground. The socialisation period is crucial and will determine how your pup will react to the noises of the world.

Start the training straight away, you need to set out the rules of what behaviour is acceptable and what isn't.
Training will tire Roxie out as will stimulate her mentally.

Enjoy your little girl and take loads of pics as they grow up so fast!
