    Hi all,

Just had a really positive walk with Ted (Golden retriever ) who is now just over 6 months and roughly 28kg. We did a circular walk round a reservoir which was busy with dogs and walkers. Great for practicing ignoring people and 'not too over the top' dog greetings.

When we passed other people or dogs I made him sit and treated him until they had passed by....which he did very well. It gets to the point where he's almost leaping for treats when he spots someone in the distance. Starts with looking at me, then nudging my hand then leaping if I don't respond quickly enough.

I'm looking at this as a positive but how do I stop him from mugging me for treats before people/dogs are in close proximity? I'm hoping it's just puppy bad manners /impatience.

    Hope that makes sense.

    Emily.

don't count on it :D. Kyko is 18 months and if I have a hand in my coat pocket he nudges my hand constantly till he gets a treat. I think it's cute but have to say I wouldn't like him leaping at me. Sorry not much help , but maybe someone will come along to give you pointers on stopping the beahviours

I do have a bad habit of putting my hands in my pockets....think I need to invest in a treat pouch and hide it round my back.
