    Hi,

we are looking at rescuing a 14 week old female lab. Apparently she was handed over to the rescue centre by a breeder because she was too small to sell. We went to visit and she isn’t small, she’s malnourished and you can see every bone. We were hoping she was just severely neglected, however the rescue centre called today to say she’s losing weight and is now only 2.5kg. Lost nearly 1kg in a week. She’s been put on 6 meals a day, wormed and had blood tests.

Does anyone have any suggestions what could be causing it? I’m hoping it’s tape worm or stress and not liver disease or anything life threatening. The blood tests are back on Friday and I’m trying to research everything.

    thanks

That's very worrying :( I'm afraid I don't have any experience that might help here, but hopefully your vet will come up with some possibilities and be able to help some more.
Do let us know how she gets along! Wishing you both the very best and keeping my fingers crossed for her.

Thanks for your kind words. Sadly we had a call this evening from the rescue centre to say poor pup grew her wings today seems her liver had stop functioning and it had a knock on effect to all her organs. She made it to 15 weeks. Gone but never forgotten
