When Hero was a smaller pup we used cds and videos on YouTube to help desensitize him to sudden noises as much as possible and he was fine for a few months. However he has recently become very reactive to things like car doors, movement around the house or next door and starts barking incessantly and when out on walks if a dog barks or yaps and he can't see it he suddenly lunges and starts to pull hard and tries to get away from the sound. Funnily though he doesn't react to any of these noises when out in the garden. We've had his ears checked to make sure he hasn't got a medical cause for this sensitivity and nothing showing up. So we have been using the desensitization methods when indoors and it is starting to settle a bit. My problem is how we can get round the dog barks when out. It's not like we can predict when and where they happen so can't divert. If he sees the dog he's not bothered. It's the ones he can't see that seem to freak him out. Trying to speak calmly or distract when 27kg of dog suddenly lunges hard and pulls me off balance is starting to get a bit difficult. Feeling quite foolish over not being able to deal with this especially how well he has readjusted to his walks and is now more settled when he sees or meets other dogs after the earlier episodes where we had some big problems. The one thing Hero has never done is bark at other dogs. We are working with a Behaviourist at the moment but just wondered if anyone else has had this issue and have any ideas on what to try
