Last year I had my dog at the vet frequently with an ear infection. Initially they told me the ear was just dirty and to clean it, however there was an infection which got worse and resulted in having his ears cleaned under general anaesthetic. This cured the issue. The infection however is now beginning to occur again (months later) I will make an appointment with the vet tomorrow, however was wondering if anyone had any tips or advice? The vet has told me previously to clean my dog's ears, however after calling the vet advice line provided by my pet insurance, I have been advised not to put anything into my dog's ears!
Any tips, advice or success stories would be useful, even preventative measures I can take to stop this form continuing to occur!

See if your vet will sign off on a script for Osurnia Otic Gel. We have a recurring issue as well. I order thru chewy dot com and they take care of sending the authorization to the doctor. Not all vets will go for this as they want you to come in and have an office visit charge, plus a fee for giving the med. It adds up. Fortunately mine is okay with it. No drops 2x a day for 10 days. Just one application and it works. My 80 pound musclebound lab is not very cooperative with anyone going into his ear so it's been a blessing.

Hi Lesley, I have several labs because I am a breeder of field labs which love water! I have had great success once an ear infection is cleared up using Mister Ben's Ear Tonic. I apply it once every other week and it does seem to help keep their ears clear of infection. I ordered it on Amazon. Hope this helps!
