Hello! We got our puppy, Mellie, around 2 weeks ago. We think she is a lab shepherd mix and about 12 weeks old. We got her from a shelter so not exactly sure on either of those :).

Anyway to my question, the first 10 days or so she seemed so open to new things and completely fearless of everything we introduced her to. We take her on short walks to try to add to her socialization period during the craziness going on with the virus.

But recently, in the last couple of day’s, she seems a lot more shy and all around jumpy. Nothing has changed in her routine but now she jumps when another dog barks during our walks or if she sees a kid is riding a bike for example.

Is this normal? Am I over reacting as it’s only been a couple of days of this behavior?

What can we do to ensure we are socializing her properly and opening her up to new experiences if she seems so weary of them right now?

Thanks for any help you are able to provide!

I thought I should add that she was spayed this past Tuesday in case that my be useful. She seemed like herself after the surgery. She didn’t behave this “new” skiddish way until Friday or Saturday

Sorry to hear Mellie has become fearless. I'm not able to help but hopefully someone will have some ideas.

I think that 3 months is quite young to be spayed and this might have something to do with it but again I am not best to advise.
