Sorry this is going to be a long one....Zeus is now just over 9 months and he had a baby tooth that hadn’t fallen out. He was due to have this removed as they were concerned it may cause damage to his adult tooth and then the Coronavirus shut down everything. Then 3 days ago he was playing with a toy and his tooth fell out but unfortunately some of the root stayed in. So yesterday he had it removed, pre checks all clear, surgery went well and he was home mid afternoon yesterday. Since he came home he has cried on and off and just seems unsettled. I phoned the vets this morning who said it’s likely to be the anaesthetic. Anyone else had any experience with this? It’s so distressing to hear him cry as he never cries or whines. Thank you

Ah, poor Zeus and upsetting for you. But, as your vet says, it is very common for dogs to cry and feel unwell after an anaesthetic. Some get over it more quickly than others but it can take a couple of days.

    Poor Zeus!

Luna broke one of her baby teeth at about 14 weeks and had to have it removed. She cried until about tea time the next day. It was awful just seeing her lie crying and she just kept looking at us. As she was so young we just laid on the floor next to her just giving some comfort.

hopefully Zeus feels more like himself later today!

Hi there, our old lab had a tooth that had broken and left the roots behind. She was the same after the surgery for about 24 hours, she cried and whined,it was awful as she never did that. Hopefully by now your boy will have improved, but it does take some dogs time to get over the anaesthetic.
