We are picking up a new pup Thursday and I was looking for some advice on what we should have ready at home.

Hello and welcome to the forum! Congratulations on your new puppy!

We've got a checklist of new puppy supplies right here which might be useful.

The only thing I'd add at the moment is - check ahead of time whether your preferred veterinary practice is open for new puppy checks and vaccinations. Here in the UK lots of vets have stopped administering vaccinations under the coronavirus lock down, which means puppies will need to start the vaccination schedule again from scratch at some point in the future, and in the meantime they can't exercise anywhere unvaccinated dogs have been.

Get rest and lots of it! Expect sleepless nights! Nothing ever prepares how sleep can affect you beforehand.

My top tip is too set up a puppy zone. So an area of your home with washable floors (kitchen etc) that is baby gated off so that the puppy cannot get on carpets unsupervised. Good luck with your puppy!
