Pippa: My name is Mike Vaughan. I'm a semi-retired molecular biologist who acts as a "gofer" for a young professor at a major US university. I assist her by reviewing drafts of her research papers before they are submitted for publication. I'm currently assisting her with a paper announcing discovery of mutations in several genes determining the adult size of dog breeds which have never before been identified in that role. Very exciting! The nice chart showing the growth rates for dogs of different sized breeds on the www.the happypuppysite.com site includes data we would very much like to include in this new publication. It looks to me as if that chart came from a published paper. If so, can you give me the literature citation? Thanks for your help.
Hi Mike, where published scientific research is referred to it is usually listed at the foot of our articles. In this case there is a reference to Body-Weight Changes during Growth in Puppies of Different Breeds by Hawthorne et al I hope that helps. Good luck with your paper, it sounds very interesting
