Our 5 year old black lab seems to itch a lot. The vet changed his food 6 months ago to a salmon based product. However, the itching is still persistent and he seems to smell more. I believe the itching is causing irritation and dryness, which is causing more of an odor. Any suggestions or food recommendations that won’t break the bank?
    Thanks, Stacey

I would be thinking about allergies of some kind. Very common food allergies in dogs, are grains and chicken and beef.

I would try to feed a grain-free food with a novel protein source which is different to what you are currently feeding. Also try to choose a food with a minimal number of ingredients as this will help eliminate some possible causes.

If you can, feed a complete raw :)

If that doesn't work as a first thing to try, there are other causes of allergies and you might want to arrange an allergy test with your vet.
