Hi. Has anyone here successfully trained their dog to ring a door bell to let you know they want to come back in the house? My boy generally sits patiently by the door but if I don't notice he jumps up at the door handle (he learnt he can open doors with lever handles when at my son's house). The handle and door are now suffering from his scratches. We are planning to get a new door soon so I'd like to see if I can get him a door bell to use with his nose. Any advice on a suitable bell push and how to go about the training would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you have a fenced yard, a dog door will solve this. We do this in town.

Our neighbors Pit stands at their back door and barks to be let in. I think he gets cold if the temp is below 60F;)

Thanks for the thoughts. Not keen on a dog door as a small person could get through it. And my dog doesnt bark - well maybe once a year! And its not something I'm going to encourage him to do.
