So Lucius had an allergy test two months ago or so, and since he's been on a diet of venison and duck he's been doing good. Until a week ago when suddenly he's back to itching and scratching and sore feet and ears again! He's had nothing he's not supposed to and we had to take him back to the vet again.

We saw a different vet which is not really what we wanted but she was quite helpful and gave us some hibiscrub for his skin and is now on apoquel permanently :(

Not what we wanted but his only other option was steroids and with his joint medication he can't take steroids because they will react with his joint meds. The plan is now to give him the apoquel and make sure his feet and tummy is washed regularly. We are keeping a food diary so we can keep track of what he's eating but honestly not sure what else we can do.

Was hoping to have better news but thats it unfortunately. Will update soon :)

That’s such a shame when it seemed to be going well.
Toby can’t have Apoquel as it’s a big no no for MCT’s.Not sure why.
The dermatologist did mention a type of immunotherapy if his skin was a major problem. Didn’t go into details as it isn’t but it might be worth researching it.

I'm sorry to hear that Lucius. Could it possibly be an allergic reaction to specific type of pollen which is about at the moment?

We talked about immunotherapy but it really is for pollen allergies which as far as we know he doesn't have. It isn't a cure for him, and our vet is currently treating three dogs with immunotherapy and they all still have symptoms , just milder symptoms. We will stick with the apoquel but we did find a little lump on his toe which I'm a bit worried about. It looks like a cyst but if it doesn't go down once his skin heals we will be taking him back to check on it. Hopefully nothing serious!

Dogs with allergies/fungal overload can get interdigital cysts. Hopefully just one of those.

Yes I think it might be just a cyst it looked really sore yesterday but after washing it and making sure he hasn't licked it it looks a lot better today. The medication seems to be working as well as the hibiscrub that we are washing his paws in and his tail is healing nicely. He seems less bothered by his feet now too so the meds are doing their job.
