Over the past week or so, our puppy has regressed (first week was okay) and is now waking up almost every two hours during the night either to potty or have a bowel movements. Usually the latter. She’s been having some diarrhea and constipation as well which I think may be the reason she feels the need to wake up and go. We plan on talking to the vet about it but because of Covid our appointment was pushed back later than usual. I’d like to clear up her stomach issues first, but I’m also worried we’ve reinforced these terrible sleeping habits because unlike the first week where we were able to get her up to go potty by setting an alarm, she’s the one directing us by crying every couple of hours.

Its not normal to need to poo every 2 hours so there is something going on that you will need to sort before you can loolook m at behaviour. It could be a variety of isdues, dietry, parasites etc. Maybe ring you vet and get some advice asap, rather than wait for your appointment. They can advise without seeing your pup. Maybe you need to take a stool sample in ?

Yeah, I agree. I read her puppy food may be too rich. I never gave our 6 year old puppy food, we went straight to normal. But I want to make sure it’s not something else too. She’s otherwise fine and she doesn’t go that much during the day. It’s just been a few nights here and there that she wakes up needing to go but often doesn’t even have anything. She does try to squat so she’s feeling something.
