    Hi all,

It’s been a few weeks and Lulu has been doing great.

She is still going to bed around 9pm and is happy to wait without making a peep until we are ready which tends to be around 7am, sometimes slightly later.

In terms of training, it’s now about proofing it all and it’s coming along well bar other dogs and any human. She never jumps at home, however she does 50% of the time when she comes across people and dogs on a walk. We are trying to get strangers to be calm and greet her at eye level which only a few tend to heed. It’s a work in progress and I’m happy with where we are at currently.

She is quite obedient at the moment yet incredibly brave.

In terms of walking, she is mostly on lead and when we find a quiet spot in some of the parks, we let her off lead. Her recall is excellent without distractions and with distractions it’s non existent which we are working on.

She is a joy around the house, she was introduced to the living room a few days ago and was excellent, she was happy just laying next to us. She is also great on her own, very happy to be left on her own for around 1-2 hours. We give her the run of the kitchen (nothing within sight for her to grab just yet) if we aren’t downstairs and she will ring the bell by the garden door to be let out.

The crate door is also open the entire day now apart from bed time. It’s a great feeling having that trust in her as we haven’t given her the opportunity yet to chew anything so she doesn’t really chew apart from her toys. Her biting is still there but very minimal in the mornings and evenings.

She is great with both the kids (7 and 1) and seems to know her boundaries with the toddler.

We feel quite blessed to have her and the first 8 weeks have gone incredibly well, not taking anything for granted and need to work on the jumping outside on strangers.

Hope you’re all well and your wonderful dogs are likewise.

Lulu is a couple of weeks behind our pup. We also have the fun of jumping, she is getting better at home as she knows she doesn’t get anything from it, outside however is the same as you. She just gets so excited she can’t compose herself!
We are also trying to get her to be calm and settle at my parents house as she will spend a fair amount of time there. She settles well at home now though most of the time.

Sounds like you are doing an amazing job with her . Our 13 week old male who was acting shy around new people just a couple weeks ago is now also jumping up on everyone he meets ‍♀️. We try asking him to sit before allowing him to be greeted by strangers but he is so excited he rarely listens even when he knows I have his favorite treats. Hoping he settles and grows out of this as well. At home he is calm and content to be at someone’s feet sleeping and sometimes puts himself to bed in his crate. Please update if you find something that helps with the jumping on strangers.

Thank you and I would echo your sentiments entirely.

I’m slowly trying to get her to realise every time she doesn’t jump outside, she gets a treat. Anyone anyone walks by, I get her to sit like yourself, as soon as she has let them pass, I’ll reward her.

I will let you know how we get on and likewise on your end :)
