How can I stop my usually good at recall 13 month old Lab chasing other dogs .... small ones especially
Hi Gill, recalling away from other dogs is a learned skill. You'll need an assistant with a dog to help you. You start by recalling your dog away from one other dog while it is sitting still (on a leash or under control) and when your dog can succeed, then you teach your dog to come away from another dog that is walking calmly up and down at a distance. But this kind of training is the culmination of a thorough recall progam where the dog has plenty of experience in recalling away from distractions that have been added in a structured way.
