Hi my 2 year old lab has always been happy at home but recently she has started to lie down outside by the bins! It’s the coolest part of the garden but also the least interesting...she’s just surrounded by bins and a walk! Also, she is really reluctant to get out the car and come into the house after she’s been out. I can work out what’s happened to change her behaviour and for it to change on these two counts at the same time? Any thoughts would be appreciated.
    Thanks :)

Hi Val, welcome to the forum!

I imagine a spot next to some bins is far from boring for a dog - all those interesting smells!!

Has anything changed in your house which might unsettle her whilst indoors? You mention it being hot there at the moment - a cooling mat might appeal to her.

There could be a few reasons why she's reluctant to get out of the car, including being uncomfortable about something in the house, being reluctant to end the fun outing, and just being quite comfortable where she is for the time being.

I'd probably start keeping a jar of treats by the back door, and start associating getting home again at the end of an outing with a nice snack. I'd love to hear what our other posters would do too!
