Our 2 year old chocolate lab had to be hospitalized overnight for aspiration pneumonia. We believe it originated from a kennel cough he had over the weekend but it’s hard to know. He is being tested for valley fever as well (we live in Arizona). He is doing well with his recovery and resting with us at home with the proper medication. We feed a commercial raw diet (Darwin’s). It has done amazing things for our dogs digestive system and overall health. The ER vet was very concerned about this, however, and wants us to stop. I’m wondering if anyone has experience raw feeding while their dog may have a lower immune system at the moment? I am a huge advocate for raw feeding but due to the circumstances and urgency of the ER vet, am wondering what to do next. Any insight is appreciated!

    Hi
I switched to raw 6 weeks after my dog finished chemo to try to help digestive issues. Worked a dream and we haven’t looked back. The oncologist wasn’t keen though but the dermatologist said it was fine as long as it was pre frozen and stored/handled correctly.
