    Morning all,

I am new to the forum but have been a labrador owner for many year. My girl has just had a litter of pups at the weekend (planned). One of my main concerns is insurance against puppy theft. I have telephoned my insurer this morning and was shocked to be told my insurance is void as it was a planned litter. I did not expect to have any cover for the pups, but assumed mum would still be covered. Does anyone have any advice on where to get any sort of insurance for mum and litter combined? In the future I would probably expect to have one more litter of her if all works out fine with this one. I would like to be covered for any pregnancy related complications with her in the future, just in case.

    Thanks

Hi Pet insurance generally doesn’t cover for pregnancy related things, along with routine things like vaccines and neuterings so you may struggle to find an insurance company for pregnancy. I think one of the newer companies may cover pregnancy on some of their levels of covers however I think it is only 1st pregnancy.

I believe the KC offer an insurance specifically for breeding purposes which covers pregnancy. However be warned that it is very expensive and unless you have a big emergency like a c-section, probably cheaper to cover costs yourself...
