Our Rolo is now 63/4 months old and yesterday started vomiting bile in the early hours of the morning. Once at 5.00am, then 5.40a, then 7.15am. Took him to the vets and they checked vitals which were all good. Rolo also hasn’t lost his appetite and is otherwise his usually self,. With the vest blessing took him to a puppy class yesterday night. Then it happened again this morning, vomiting bile at 4.15 am, then 4.40 and 7.15am again. Back to the vets, his vitals still ok, and they put him on an anti-vomit injection and a course of antibiotics, suspecting a case of gastroenteritis. Has anyone had this experience before and how did your lab/s go?
There are so many things which could cause this, but one of the easy ones is 'hunger pukes' what time do you feed him in the evening?
He usually gets fed between 6.00pm-6.30pm. Tuesdays he is on a training class that goes from 7.30pm, so he has his food as part of the training and what ever is left over by 9.00pm. He also has a session on a Monday for five weeks, that starts at 8.30pm and then goes till 10.00pm same there. That one has another three sessions to run....
So on Sunday night and Monday night, he was fed at 6-6.30pm and was sick in the morning? If so, I would try moving his last meal back to 9pm or at least give him a sizable 'snack' before bed tonight and see if that helps.
Wednesday to Sunday Night he is fed at 6-6.30pm, then Monday and Tuesday night are when he is fed late. He threw up on Monday and Tuesday in the early hours of the morning. I too thought it might have been the change, but when he threw up on Tuesday morning having had a late dinner the night before (8.30-10.00pm consistent food streaming), I was a bit more concerned. He is ok now, since the anti-vomit injection kicked in, so tonight will be the real test. We are also resolved to feed him some of his food later at night too. This didn’t happen to other labs we’d had, they would consistently be done with their food by 6.00pm without issue. So am monitoring and hoping that this will be a glitch we can remedy. Thank you for your advice.
