    Hello everyone...
I have 2.5 year old black lab male.
Since he was puppy he has had skin issue... scabs on belly, ear infection.
    Since this summer...
    I am posting few pictures....
He developed dandruff ,, I am giving him bath every week with anti dandruff shampoo....but not helping much
He has scabs on his belly
His one foot has developed some infection

I have taken him to Vet and he is also not sure...we did blood work... all is ok....

We gave him steroids, which helped for few days but then all symptoms came back.

For last 2 years... thinking it is food allergies...I have changed all sorts of food...from kibble to home cooked....chicken...beef....lamb....kangaroo... but nothing has helped...

Now my poor baby has all these skin issues... but not sure what to do??

Vet is suggesting biopsy and or may be zinc deficiency...

    Any advise or suggestions...

    Thank You

Hi there, welcome to the forum :)

Labradors are somewhat prone to skin issues, and sadly they can be very difficult to pinpoint the cause of.

You might find searching through some of the old threads on the forum interesting to you - several members who have had similar experiences have shared what helped them.

Good luck to both you and your boy!

    Hi
As Sarah says there are lots of posts on here with similar issues.
Mine is allergic to something( or many things) but have only excluded food so far by using Royal Canin Analergenic dog food. If you feed it for 8 weeks and give nothing else but the itchiness continues it is not food related. This was the advice from a dermatologist who works along side my dogs oncologist.
Toby’s scratching is fairly random. He recently had a bite on his head that within two days had turned into a hotspot. We have managed to clear it in 10 days by keeping a cone on him overnight and when not supervised. No he doesn’t like it but he gets lots of treats. It is really important that they can’t get to any open sores to cause infection. We just need the fur to grow back now!
What is the biopsy for? A particular lump or general sores?
