Hi everyone! Kathy here with our 7 year old black lab Scout who we adopted during Covid lockdown. She has been an absolute doll (although her past owners taught her to eat right off the counter...) Anyway she truly is great but every day right around 2:00 PM she barks like crazy!! We have no idea why this is or what she wants but there is no stopping her! Any idea how we could help with this? Any advice would be much appreciated as I am working from home and this is an issue for my calls.

Hi Kathy and Scout, welcome to the forum!

If it's always at the same time every day, there's probably something you can't see/hear/smell, which is is triggering it.

For example, another dog who always walks past with their owner at that time, the sound of your central heating firing up, or a neighbor setting their home security system to go to work (my parents' makes a massive racket when they set it, I have no idea why, but theirs can't be the only one).

In terms of dealing with it - this article on our main site explains how to teach a cue for quiet.

Good luck, and let us know how you get on!

Any chance that was the time she used to be fed?
Their body clock is very precise when it comes to food.
More likely to be a sound though.
