When I got my dog he was 3 months old and we started him on Royal Canine Puppy formula and at 10 months he was only pooping once. I saw something that said taste of the wild was better for dogs than royal canine so I decided to switch him to the salmon one puppy formula. Ever since I’ve switched him he has had the runs 3 times but he had the runs 2 weeks before I switched his food so I don’t know if it has an correlation, I tried switching him to the new food slowly until we ran out on about the 4 to 5th day of the old food. when I switched him I take him out he will poop in the morning and sometimes in the afternoon but more often in the night. Now he has started pooping once in the morning and in the night 3 times. Once an hour or two of head and then the last time i take him out before bed he will poop twice in row. Sometimes he’ll wake me up at 3am to poop. He’s never done this since we’ve gotten him only recently. I thought they said that the better quality of food the less they poop. I fed him a bland diet for two days due to him have watery stools and diarrhea. And that helped a lot. Is this normal or should i put him back on his old food. I’m so confused

If it started 2 weeks before you changed the food, it's unlikely to be that alone. Has he been checked for giardia?
If he's been check/wormed, you could try moving him back onto the original food to see if the new food is an issue. Just because it is a better quality food, doesn't mean that it will suit every dog.
