Hello, After what feels like an extremely long wait we have found an ideal labrador to add to our household. It's been over 20+ years since I last had a dog and she was amazing, in the car she just sat and enjoyed the ride. But we are picking up a 4 yr old and she spends a significant amount of time in a crate which is why she's been rehomed. I want to try and make the day as unstressful as possible, I have a VW Gold MK 8 so my question is should I put her on the back seat? Is the boot of a VW Golf too small? Another question is dog beds are a minefield, can some please recommend a good bed for an adult Labrador. That's she will feel comfy and safe in. Thanks in advance. Catherine
Hi Catherine Well done you for adopting a lab. If she has spent a lot of time in a crate there will probably be a lot of new experiences ahead so just take it all very slowly to begin with. She will probably set the pace. I may be wrong but I think recommendations for travel are in a crate in the boot or on the back seat with a seat belt attachment. If it was me I would get someone to sit with her on the back seat with a restraint and have some towels ready incase she is car sick.(although I expect she has had some experience in a car if only to go to the vets etc) You can buy the most expensive bed in the world and she may still choose to sleep on the floor! If she is used to a crate there is no reason why she can’t still have one. Just keep the door open. Or get a bed with slightly raised sides so she feels cocooned. I’m sure others will have better ideas. All the best and let us know how it goes.
