Hi all - we've just had the worst week. Our lovely, bouncy, intermittently limping chocolate Labrador of 10m old has had a CT scan and the ortho vet is saying he needs arthroscopy AND ulnar osteotomy... Our big questions are around recovery and benefits to him. You'd not know he has any issues, vet said he's 2/10 for lameness - so, are we curing a splinter with a hammer? Any of you had this surgery. My heart breaks at the thought of taking a lively dog in and coming out with a lame one - AND a lame one how needs crating for 6wks... Any advice/comfort/experiences welcome - we're pretty anxious about the whole thing!

It's a difficult one. See how he goes and/or seek a second opinion, but bear in mind that dogs hide pain very well and if he's limping, he's in a fair bit of pain.
