Our 8 week old got euonymus poisoning. It hadn’t been in any of our resources, but we had lots of it and it is ubiquitous in here Toronto as it is cold hardy. Are there other common garden plants that don’t make it to common lists? Someone tuned us onto a good resource where we found out about it. I am just wondering about individual experiences. Also, is there a good guide to plant substitutes for dog-friendly gardeners? I guess this would be a North American edition we’re looking for given how cold it is here. Our garden was well-planned and a multi-year work in progress. Thanks!
There is this from the Dogs Trust in the UK (which includes Euonymous. listed under its common name of European Spindle) but of course it may not have some North American plants. https://www.dogstrust.org.uk/help-advice/factsheets-downloads/factsheetpoisonoussubstances09.pdf I hope your puppy is ok.
Thank you! He recovered quickly, thankfully. I was quick to find out what it was thanks to a local gardening Facebook page.
