We have a 5 month old puppy who just had some X-rays done and may have a bad case of bilateral elbow dysplasia. A CT scan is going to be done as soon as we can schedule and for now he is crated. I don't know the exact diagnosis but was wondering if anyone on this thread has had a puppy that has had both elbows with ED and if so what treatment and prognosis was given. Also how old the dog is now after surgeries. What is the quality of life for a young puppy with both elbows having ED. The breeder is reputable and has had many many litters and has never had this happen. Yay for us. Both parents were certified with not dysplasia. Don't know what to do. HELP

    Hi
    Welcome to the forum.
So sorry you have a young lab with potential health issues. I have no experience of dysplasia only other serious health issues so I know how stressful/disappointing/sad it all feels.
If you put dysplasia into the search bar at the top of the page you will find other threads on similar topics.
Stay strong and hopefully things won’t be as bad as you fear. Often the waiting is far worse than dealing with it.

Hi, I can reply in detail later if it helps. But our beautiful lab, Lucca, turned 10 yesterday and he had bilateral elbow dysplasia times two (ODD and the other which I currently, blessedly, forget!) He had two surgeries and we also had gold beads put in, because spoiled, and he has been on joint guard his whole life and 4-cyte since it came out. He lives a lighter, less rough and tumble life than our previous dogs but is a very happy vegemite. Also, yes, it was incredibly stressful. I hope you found help.
    All the best,
    Alison

Hi there, We have a red fox lab, whom started to limp on his right leg, fast forward a month and CT Scan later, he has been diagnosed with Bi-lateral Elbow Dysplasia, He has had his first Op, and due to have his next Op this coming week, surgery has gone well. It isn't easy keeping a puppy calm following the surgery, but hopefully by summer time he will be able to enjoy his walks again.
Unfortunately I don't have any info on the future, but we are just going to take each day as it comes.
