    Good morning.
we have had our Black Lab bitch puppy for a week now, and while she is generally very good we are suffering with the question have we done the right thing. we are in our early sixties and children have all gone. we thought long and hard about wether to get a pup or keep our steady life. we chose the first and we keep getting the feeling we have made a wrong decision? any views greatly appreciated

Hi I'm the same age and made the decision to get another Lab after our chocolate girl padded away at 15. I also found the puppy stage challenging, but 2 years on am very content with our new dog. Have you read Pippa's suggestions re puppy blues? I found them very helpful.
Maybe think about the reasons you decided to get a puppy
Do they still resonate with you?

I don’t think it an unusual feeling regards of your stage in life. Puppyhood passes quickly though, stick with it and it will fly by.

Stick with it.It is hard work. Make sure you follow all the training advice you will find in the links from the many threads about challenging puppies. Before you know it you will have a beautiful companion for the next 12 plus years who will get you out enjoying the fresh air and keeping you fit and healthy too meeting lots of new people along the way.
By the way she looks gorgeous. Take lots of photos. They grow so quickly.

I say stick with it! I have 2 labs and they keep me very active. If I didnt have them I probably wouldnt move half as much as I do. Our 4 year old black lab was a tough cookie as a pup! My hubby ended up throwing in the towel on working with her so I promised I would take over so he wouldnt get rid of her. I started walking her everyday, sometimes twice a day. Playing with her more outside so she could run out her energy. When I started giving her more positive attention she stopped digging, and chewing on everything. Now the whole neighborhood loves her! The walkers always visit with her walking by. She stays inside the yard without a fence, she walks the trails.off leash with me. Shes just amazing with me two young kiddos. I can guarantee if you work with her you wont be sorry you kept her!
