Hello, new here I am a mum to a soon to be 4 year old black lab. We recently found out he had a severe grain allergy. He has been on royal canine since he was a pup. After this we had to change to wet food. He’s now eating wolf of wilderness wet food which is just protein and berry’s with minerals.

it’s been about 3 weeks now and his stool is black well nearly black, it doesn’t smell awful. It is solid and doesn’t have any mucus. I am hoping it’s just because he is in wet food now and not something sinister. Yes I googled and it said internal bleeding.

just looking to see if anyone else has experienced this. TIA x

Hi Halex, welcome to the forum :)

It could be his diet, but if you're worried about it, do ask your vet's advice!

parasite possibly, which are often easily treated with the proper antibiotic. A friend's dog had giardia and exhibited similar stool to what you are describing. I'm sure everything will be fine, but update us after the visit!
