    Good afternoon,

We have a 6-month-old Pom-a-Pug, and she is really struggling with being left home alone. We tried setting up a pen area for her but she just climbs out. She whines when we leave her, do you have any suggestions on how we can leave her at home alone?

    Thanks,

How did you introduce her to being left?

We introduced her slowly, 5 mins, 10 mins, etc. But with COVID in my area, we just had a work-from-home order and both my wife and I have been at home for the last couple of weeks. Since December 15th she hasn't been left home alone as one of us was always home. Could this cause some regression?

I'm not sure if she's wining now that you are home all day, but this is the perfect time to train her to be left alone. Pop her in a crate in another room with something fantastic (stuffed kong or something) for short periods. Build up the time gradually. Get her used to seeing you get ready and leave the house, but actually just walk out the front door and come straight back in through the back door.

It's difficult to say if she would gradually improve or gradually get worse if you carry on leaving her, but there is a definite chance she would get worse. Is it possible to avoid leaving her alone at all for a while? Then you can work within her comfort zone which is the most reliable way of getting her to be happy when left. When we got a puppy I had some distance projects working with the guys from https://www.topwritersreview.com/reviews/lawaspect/ . Now I work full time but my puppy is not a puppy anymore and absolutely calm when he's alond. So I wish you all the best with your pup.
