Hi, We have a 6 month lab. She is really smart but we've had our hard moments with her - plus we know the 6-8 month milestone is a rough one as they usually get testy. That said, we would really like to have another dog and we are considering a Sheltie. In my opinion I would like to be done with the dog proofing at once instead of waiting for her to be 2 years old and then starting al over again with the new puppy, especially because at some point I would like to be able to renew my chewed up furniture and garden hoses and not having to worry about new puppy eating then up again. But I'm writing to ask if anyone has welcomed another puppy around the same age and for some advice. Also thoughts about the lab/sheltie compatibility? Thank you!
We've been thinking of adding a second dog to our household for awhile now. We ended up waiting until our current girl ( a Lab) was almost 3 and glad we did as she's really settled down in the past few months and I think I would have found it challenging to raise 2 puppies at the same time. Having said that many people do and have good experiences. Guess it depends on your time/ experience/ energy level Good luck bwith whatever you decide!
