My labrador is 9 years old and when I take him walking he sometimes refuses to walk. It is most frequent when we are just outside the house but this also happens after he has been walking for 10+ minutes. This is a strange behaviour because he does not have any apparent sores on the foot and when he stops, he is more than ready to keep going if I turn around (heading to home/the car). He behaves like this but then he is always happy to sprint and play in the garden. I have tried to make him walk in shoes without much success. I plan on taking him to the wet but he just went without any comments.
Pop him to the vet to eliminate any physical issues. If all is well, can you think of anything that has scared/upset him? I had a collie cross touch an electric fence on a walk near me and even now, years later, she hates going on that walk.
This happened to my adopted golden (3yr old) the first week I got him. At first he would stop outside our door and refuse to come in, a day or two later, he refused to even move on our way back from the park. The first time this happened, I literally tried for an hour to convince him to come back Nox vidmate vlc
