My 10month old lab hasn’t shown any major signs of coming into season just yet. However over the past month two male dogs have tried to mount her in the park. I obviously pulled her away very quickly and she’s kept on lead. They never managed to actually do anything.

Is this a sign she’s coming into heat?
She’s been licking herself more than usual but other than that there’s no swelling or discharge. I regularly check her.

    Thank you

Hmm there are some make dogs in our park who mount any dogs in sight even if they're spayed. So I don't think it's necessarily a sign that your girl is going into heat

Hi! My girl just went through her first heat at 9 mos. it was my first time going through it as well. Some signs to look for according to Lucy’s breeder and our experience:

    1) increased self cleaning
    2) increased urination and urgency!!
    3) extra clingy (instead of laying next to me she wanted to lay ON me lol)
    4) vomited once (normal according to breeder)

It wasn’t as bad as I thought it would be. We ordered some pants for her to wear, but even with the large we had to make the hole for her tail bigger. Cleaning with hydrogen peroxide helped with the slight odor (tip from breeder). Reading here it seems that some dogs don’t experience much bleeding. Lucy did, so she wore the pants much of the time during the day (except outside) and slept in her crate with no pants.

    Hope that helps!
