    Hi,

We are soon bringing our furry friend to our home and have below sleeping arrangement in mind. We do not have a spacious laundry so cant utilise that space.

Arrangement is to have open crate + playpen - Open crate with bed + stinking blanket + blanket for him to sleep. And playpen so that he remains in confined space if he wakes up. Also, I will wake up in middle of the night for toilet break.

    Is this a good plan?

    TIA

    Hi Ratnesh,

    Welcome :)

Personally, I would go with a closed crate during the night. From what I remember reading, I think there's a chance that if he needs the toilet in the night, while they don't like messing their bed area, they will maybe not feel the same about the playpen area and mess there instead. Which could end up being a hard habit to break. My Cassie was in a closed crate overnight until I think around 6-8 months old and was absolutely fine.

You might also need to get up a couple of times in the night for the first couple of weeks - we started with one around 1am and another around 3am. Both moved out in time quite quickly and it wasn't long before we had her going through until 6am. The trick is not to wake yourself up too much !! The thing to remember is they have very little, if any, bladder control when they are that young so you have to get there first.

Good luck, and enjoy your new gorgeous boy :)
