We have a 10year old girlie, who up until now has been coping with her bad arthritic joints, her pain is being controlled at the moment. A couple of months ago her behaviour started to change, and now she is a totally different dog, and we are having problems dealing with her Dementia and knowing how to cope with the barking/whining and sometimes aggressive growling. She seems to have deteriorated very quickly, a week ago she was wandering around the garden and preferring to lie under hedges, even during rain...
The vet did prescribe Nutramind for her which she has been on for nearly a week. Another problem is she seems to have lost her appetite, which in one way is helping her as she is overweight, but we worry she is not getting the nourishment she needs. She also is reluctant to eat standing up, and I more or less have to hand feed her.
My husband and I are in our early 80's and are finding it so difficult to cope at times, worrying if we are doing the right things for her. She loves the outdoors, but know needs taking out and bringing back, she is regularly walked as far as she can. We just need to share some advice please, as we feel we are not coping too well. Thank you for reading this diatribe !

I'm sorry you're going through such a tough time.

Please use this as a space to vent, and process your feelings, as much as you need.
