I would really appreciate advice on how to make my lab understand she can’t go to the bathroom inside. My puppy was doing great with not going to the bathroom in her crate, but as she’s getting older I let her roam around my room while she’s playing and this has led to a couple of accidents. I tried to teach her to let me know when she has to go outside with bells on my door but this hasn’t stuck yet. I take her the bathroom ever couple of hours which should be sufficient for her age, but she’s still having accidents inside. Any advice on how to make her learn this would be great!
They all mature at a different rate and leaving her to let you know may be the problem. Also, she may need to go more frequently. I was still taking Meg out often at that age and treating her. 4 months is still pretty young. Go back a step and you might have more sucess.
You can also try rewarding her with something higher value outside (food is a good one, particularly stinky treats) and bringing her outside more regularly so that you can catch it better. Tutuapp 9Apps Showbox
Thank you for the advice! My puppy is almost 5 months old now and she learned to ring the bell when she wants to go outside and that has been a life saver. She hasn’t had an accident since and I don’t have to keep my eye on her at all times anymore.
Bringing her outside more regularly is also my suggestion. I noticed when my dog had a habit of peeing inside so I tried walking him just outside my house for about 2/3 times a day for about a month.
