Hello im new to this forum.
I have a household of 4 adult and 2 children ages 5 and 8 years old.

I wanted to get a good family pet companion male dog who is good with kids and other dogs.

I like the labrador cause Its friendly around children etc and low maintenance and no cutting the hair like in the standard poodle.

I dont know if the labrador shedding will drive me crazy. I heard black and chocolate sheds less then yellow lab?

Any suggestions which breed to pick.
    One shed the other doesn't.
One has no to little maintenance the other has cutting every 4 to 6 weeks.

Should have added in my reply to your other post, my lab hardly sheds. I think they are all different, depends on climate too.

Most Labs, at least the ones I've been around shed quite a bit. Mostly Spring and Fall, but some all year around. I don't think there is any difference based on color. Some field dogs don't have as much of a double coat, and might shed a bit less, but we have had 3 field Labs and they all had double coats. If you really mind the dog fur and don't like to vacuum, you may not love a Lab, but on the other hand they never really need to go to the groomer, very seldom need a bath, and ours have very little odor. Dirt comes off a Labs coat very easily, so they don't bring in a lot of dirt or leaves.

My young black lab seems to have two heavy shedding fortnights a year. There is always some hair shed otherwise but it’s not very ‘sticky’ hair. I wouldn’t say my young lab is low maintenance, since a pup she has required a lot of attention, training and has over 2 hrs a day of walking, but I guess that would be similar for a young standard poodle.

Both our Labs have been heavy shedders ( if that's a proper word!) But I found it was constant vs seasonal.
