At 10 months my puppy still has a lot of puppy features (puppy fur and the short snout). He weighs around 50 lbs and he seems to be maturing much slower than my other lab, who is now 5. We also have friends who got a lab from the same litter and their dog has completely matured, weighs around 75 lbs (probably more at this point), and just looks like an adult lab. Our puppy is a bit more laid back but still has a ton of energy like a puppy should. I can’t seem to find anything we are doing wrong with feeding or exercise. Is this normal? I just have never had a lab who is still this small at 10 months.

First thing, remember it is a baby. It doesn't know anything and it is very needy. Treat it like a baby. Forgive everything, reward anything good. Shower love.

My lab is about a year old and he still acts like a puppy, weighs about 55lbs, has puppy skin, and is just now losing his puppy fur texture. I suspect some dogs just mature at different rates, but also I just got my dog neutered recently. Is your dog neutered? That definitely affects their hormones which can change their growth. Early neutering/spaying can limit their development, so the dog might look more “grown up” quicker

Oh wow I had no idea that could effect their growth. Our vet told us to wait to neuter him til around 1.5 years so that might be a reason. Thanks for your response!
