My dogs loved the classic cheerios! Can I give some as a treat?

My dogs tasted cheerios for the first time and went cray cray about it! Is it ok to give some as a snack/ treat?

Labradors love almost any food(dropped salad leaves stay on the floor) but it is up to us to choose what is healthy for them. I wouldn’t give sugary snacks.

I had to go and check this because heavens knows why I even knew it in the first place, but plain Cheerios in the U.S. (which is where I think you are Jean?) contain far less sugar than the plain variety sold in the UK (where JD and I are currently enjoying a whole lot of rain). It's one of those weird quirks - in the U.S. they're actually plain oat cereal, whereas our UK classic version is a mix of grains and coated in syrup.

So I'm going to go slightly the other way, and say that a small number, given in moderation, aren't necessarily a bad thing. For example, if your dog perceives them as a high value reward, you could use them to reinforce new skills in training, or an emergency recall cue :)

Well spotted! Was remembering giving the kids little pots of Cheerios in the car to keep them quiet. Probably not approved of now either :)

    We did that too!

My favourite application of Cheerios (so far, there's still time!) was by a friend who used them to potty train her boys by dropping one into the toilet bowl as a target :D
