I need some advice. I’ve had my lab puppy Sophie for 3 weeks now (she’s 10 weeks) and I feel like my regular life is falling apart. I gave her in a playpen when I work (I work from home) but give her many potty/play/ training sessions throughout the day.

When she’s in her playpen and napping, she’s fine. But on weekends, if I try to walk around to do things like clean/laundry/cook etc she goes bananas snd jumps, whines, and now had just started barking too. I can’t do anything while she naps cuz I wake her up. I’ve been napping when she naps cuz I’m exhausted.

hiw does everyone else balance life snd their puppy especially on weekends? I can’t leave her loose cuz she’s into everything. Will she calm down soon or how can I teach her to play and not be bothered that I’m walking around? I treat for quiet but it’s just not working or I’m not doing it right.

I feel like a bad puppy mama.

Hey Annamarie, I know how you feel. My pup was exactly like this between 8 and 12 weeks. I couldn't work out indoors or she would nip my ankles; when I tried to clean she would just get in the way and try to make off with whatever I put down on the table.

It gets better once you can go on regular walks and tire your puppy out during the day.

I didn't really find a solution for distracting her during those chaotic first few weeks. It's a tough time as an owner, but you really just have to endure it for a few more weeks and I promise it'll get better.
