    Good afternoon,

Just reaching out to see what people's experiences are with bonding an older dog with a puppy.

We took the plunge and got a puppy as a companion for our 1yr old Alma but it's been quite the bumpy start.

Alma is very submissive and the pup (Murphy) is quite the crocopup at the moment, with an issue of clamping. Rather than put him in his place Alma seems scared and is looking to us for guidance. She does however seem to want to be with him a lot and loves to be near him to sleep together.

My other half is getting really stressed and I feel its affecting his bond with Murphy (he's only a puppy after all, doing what pups do) and Alma is tapping in to his energy and its making her worry.

Would like honest opinions on people that have done this before whether it be success or failure.

    Carrie x

It takes a good while for dogs to settle down together and think it is a myth they will instantly get on. It’s more like a matter of months, than days. Give them patience and space, and they will get there.

Thank you, it's getting easier day by day. They have some really lovely moments together. x
