    Hi.

I have an 11 week old Lab. I adopted him at 8.5 weeks.

When I went to view him he was with his dam and sire and they were both big and well built dogs, especially the sire. His littermates also looked healthy and a decent size and so did my pup.

I took him to the Vets on Tuesday for 2nd vaccines etc and I was panicking; I explained to the Vet how I thought he was too small. She weighed him and told me there were no concerns as he is eating, drinking and sleeping properly. He weighs 8kg at 11 weeks.

My main concern is, my puppy is very long! I see plenty of posts from users showing their "leggy" pup, but my pup is genuinely all legs, like he has stilts. He is like a grasshopper!! He was playing with a Golden Retriever yesterday who was 2 weeks older than my pup, and although my dog was taller than the Retriever by an inch or so, he dwarfed in size next to her. My puppy just hasn't seemed to have filled out yet, he is very lanky.

Am I worrying too much? I'm just a little bit anxious. He's my first dog since I was a child and I'm just trying my best to make sure he's healthy enough:(

    Thank you.

    Looks like a healthy cutie.

Are one was 7 kg at 10 weeks.

    Feed the recommend amounts.
Lab's don't have an off switch for food. You get a lot of overweight ones because of that.

    Keep up the good work.

I had similar concerns with my girl. She was weighed last week at 14 weeks and was 10.1 kgs. We've had her since she was 9 weeks and for the first 3 weeks I was undergeeding her, completely innocent mistake on my part as I read the feeding chart wrong. The vet said last week that she was right on target for her age. She did look quite leggy when I wasn't feeding her right but has filled out nicely now and looks more solid.

Lovely pup, looks perfect to me.
My labs are very long in the body and look like they're crossed with a Whippet when they are young dogs!

Looks perfectly normal and his weight is normal for a pup that age. I can see nothing to be concerned about from what you have said, or from your pictures.

Cooper started out small at 5.5 lbs at 7 weeks. At 11 weeks she was 18 lbs. and fully grown about 75-80. She is a tall lanky Field style dog, that looks just like her parents. 24+" at the shoulders and actually more at the rear.
